Long Island Cares hosted its third annual "Truckers for Turkeys" event in Deer Park Sunday.

Truckers from across the tri-state area packed the Red Lobster parking lot at the Tanger Outlets where they gave out turkeys and other foods for families who experience food insecurity.

"It's really just wonderful to see how strong this support is here on Long Island for people who are struggling," said Katherine Fritz, Long Island Cares vice president of Development in Communications.

Santa Claus made an appearance along with his elves at the event that also featured a truck show, a DJ and food trucks.
