Students at Great Hollow Middle School in Nesconset learned about the past through World War II veteran Jack Weber.
Weber, who is 100 years old, joined the Navy as a volunteer at 17 years old.
"The day Pearl Harbor was attacked, I was so upset about what happened, I decided I had to do something about it," explained Weber.
During WWII II, he worked as dentist on a Navy supply ship helping his fellow soldiers.
The Long Island veteran recently published his memoir, entitled "Jack Weber, Here!"
Weber says proceeds from the book will go to help a local charity that helps needy children and their families.
