Stony Brook University has a new president.

The SUNY Board of Trustees voted unanimously to appoint Andrea Goldsmith.

Goldsmith is currently the dean of engineering and applied sciences at Princeton University.

Goldsmith also spent 21 years as a professor at Stanford University while founding a network system called Plume Wifi.

Goldsmith’s appointment is effective Aug. 1.

Goldsmith will be the university’s seventh president.
