Suffolk PD: Grandmother killed by drunk driver in Middle Island crash was in car with her daughter, granddaughter

According to police, 31-year-old Melissa Koprowski, of Yaphank, was driving eastbound on Middle Country Road when she attempted to make a left turn onto Wading River Hollow Road. Instead, they say she crashed into a vehicle that was traveling westbound on Middle Country Road.

Suffolk County police say a grandmother who was killed in drunk driving crash in Middle Island on Friday night was in the car with her daughter and granddaughter.
They say it happened on Middle Country Road at Wading River Hollow Road at approximately 8:40 p.m.
Police say the woman who died is 75-year-old Esther Guy, of Coram.
According to police, 31-year-old Melissa Koprowski, of Yaphank, was driving eastbound on Middle Country Road when she attempted to make a left turn onto Wading River Hollow Road. Instead, they say she crashed into a vehicle that was traveling westbound on Middle Country Road.
Esther Guy’s daughter, 33-year-old Crystal Marks, of Coram, was driving the vehicle that was hit. She suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
Police say Guy’s 22-month-old granddaughter was not hurt.
Koprowski was charged with DWI and was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Koprowski is scheduled to be arraigned on Sunday.
