The MTA Board approved the new congestion pricing plan 12-1 Monday.
Drivers will be charged $9 when entering Manhattan below 60th Street. The MTA says the toll will increase to $12 in 2028 and then $15 in 2031.
Gov. Kathy Hochul stated last week that she initially paused the program this summer because she felt a $15 toll was too high.
Despite the lower toll, MTA officials say they’ll still have the $15 billion in funding for renovation and repair projects across NYC Transit, Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North.
The program is set to begin on Jan. 5, pending federal approval.
