Police identified the pedestrian who they say was struck and killed by a Nassau police cruiser Friday morning in Wantagh.
Authorities say 22-year-old Marc Salomone, of Wantagh, was killed while crossing Wantagh Avenue around 6:30 a.m.
The two officers who were involved were also hospitalized for minor injuries.
Their emergency lights were not activated and they were not responding to a call at the time of the crash, according to police.
The attorney general's office is investigating the incident as required by law when a police officer may have caused someone's death.
