Last month, a Wisconsin woman discovered a racial slur had been written on her oil change sticker after bringing her car into a dealership.
Today, Makayla Starks is the owner of a 2023 electric vehicle, gifted from Family Nissan in Inwood.
"I can't imagine people this far from home would care so much,” said Starks.
Family Nissan of Inwood learned of the incident through a popular industry website, Automotive News.
The Long Island dealership says it decided to gift Starks a Nissan Leaf from its fleet.
"The idea for the electric model is so she doesn't have to get an oil change and remember the hateful incident," explained Ramzey Rizk of Family Nissan.
The Long Island dealership has also arranged to transport Starks' new car to her home in Wisconsin.
