Sen. Chuck Schumer joined with senior citizens and management at Carillon Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Huntington Monday, calling on local GOP congressmembers to take action to block a budget resolution that he says includes massive cuts to Medicaid.
The Senate minority leader warns that if the cuts become a reality, many of our older Long Islanders will be forced to pay for their own nursing home and rehabilitation care, and some of those facilities may be forced to cut staffing.
Senior citizens we spoke with are concerned that they will no longer be able to receive the care they need, if the cuts become a reality.
