There have been at least 60 threats to Long Island schools since the new school year began, according to statistics from police.
The latest threat happened at South Ocean Middle School in Patchogue, where police say a bomb threat was emailed. Students were evacuated to a different campus Thursday morning. The threat was determined to be a hoax.
Some parents at South Ocean Middle School expressed frustration with the Patchogue-Medford School District, saying they should have been notified sooner. Those parents say it took about an hour for the school to tell them about the threat.
Other parents say the school district handled the situation appropriately.
