A new public campaign is set to kick off Autism Acceptance month, which begins in April.
The campaign was launched by Spectrum Designs in Port Washington.
The not-for-profit employs people on the spectrum and other disabilities.
Organizers say the focus of the new campaign is to encourage people with autism and other disabilities not to hide who they are.
"You don't have to mask to be accepted into society. We are trying to show that there are all types of people," explained Kelly Fisher, of Spectrum Designs.
The new campaign begins April 1.
It will air across Long Island and throughout the tri-state area.
