A memorial Mass was held for NYPD Detective Jonathan Diller of Massapequa Park, who was killed exactly one year ago during a traffic stop.
Detective Diller's wife and young son were at the Mass held at Saint Agnes Cathedral.
Stephanie Diller told attendees that she missed how her husband "laughed through life."
She described him as courageous, honest and generous.
"Strength woven with tenderness," she said.
Stephanie Diller said it was hard to imagine her husband missing out on their son growing up, "but I think he actually has the best view," she said.
She urged churchgoers to "live a life that you can't wait to tell him about on the other side."
